The decision path

Five reasons a RYOBI customer buys this over another generator

You already own the batteries. You already own the chargers. Here is why plugging them into 1800 watts of AC beats hauling a petrol generator to every jobsite, campsite, or blackout.

01 Problem

Petrol is dead weight

Fumes indoors. Oil to top up. Cold-start pulls that never fire on the first go. And a generator you cannot use in the shed.

02 Proof

1800 watts, silent

Pure inverter output runs a window AC, fridge, plunge saw, or CPAP with zero engine noise and zero exhaust.

03 Fit

Uses your ONE+ pack

Slots 4 to 8 RYOBI 18V batteries. Higher-capacity packs stretch runtime. You already own them.

04 Objection

Charges packs too

When it is not powering AC, it becomes an 8-bay charger. One trip out the van, eight packs topped up.

05 Value

One tool, three jobs

Backup generator, mobile inverter, and battery station. Buying three separate boxes costs more and takes more space.

Why you keep leaving the petrol one at home

The everyday power gaps this actually closes

  • Site day, no mains hookup yetThe extension lead only reaches so far. Plug the RYOBI in beside the sub-panel and run the saw, the site radio, and the phone chargers off it until first fix arrives.
  • Van conversion or long weekend awayYou need to keep the fridge cold, the lights on, and the CPAP running through the night. Silent power that does not stink out the awning.
  • Home outage in the middle of dinnerRouter, fridge, a couple of lamps, the modem. Plug in, push the button, keep the evening moving. The kids barely notice.
  • The batteries you already stockpiledFour, six, eight ONE+ packs sat on the shelf. They now do double duty as a full backup power system.

Watch it work

Push the button. It runs.

One button. Real 1800W output.

No pull-cord, no priming, no petrol smell in the garage. Slot the ONE+ packs, hit the switch, and every AC outlet is live. This is the same clean inverter power you would expect from a lithium station three times the price.

  • 1800 continuous watts on a stable pure sine wave
  • Runs an air conditioner, fridge, plunge saw, or shop vac
  • Zero engine noise - use it inside the workshop or bedroom
  • Push-button start, no maintenance, no yearly service
The numbers that matter

Where it earns its space

Six real jobs the RYOBI 1800W handles better than a petrol box

Power station in workshop use

Second-fix trade day

Runs a plunge saw, the site radio, and phone chargers while first-fix electrics are still off. Move it room to room without unplugging anything petrol.

Power station used outdoors

Home backup, silent

Router, fridge, a couple of lamps and the boiler timer keep going through a cut. No fumes in the utility room, no wake-the-neighbours engine noise.

Power station outputs and ports

Van life and long weekends

Fridge, laptop, CPAP overnight, coffee grinder in the morning. Charge the packs off solar or the alternator between stops.

Power station charging RYOBI batteries

Battery hub, end of the day

Flip it into charge mode and eight ONE+ packs top up overnight from one mains plug. No octopus of individual chargers.

Power station battery bay open

Allotment or garden studio

Kettle, small pump, string lights, a laptop. All the mains you would want in a shed at the end of the garden, no cable run required.

Power station scale reference

Event day and market stalls

Card readers, a small fridge, a food warmer, a speaker. Silent AC that does not steal the tone of the acoustic set two stalls over.

Compared to a small petrol generator

Same output, none of the compromises

A quick side-by-side against the petrol inverter generators most tradespeople end up hauling from van to shed.

What buyers say after living with it

Great

Amazing and quiet works to power a window air conditioner evenRead moreRead less

Charges every ONE+ pack I own

The unit can charge all my RYOBI 18V batteries when it is not being used as a power source at the same time. I have used it with just two 12Ah packs and it works fine, and it makes carrying eight around a lot easier. I have topped off all eight before using it via the charging cord.

Silent AC for the workshop

Push the switch and the outlets are live. No pull-cord, no fuel, no exhaust. It has replaced the petrol generator I used to drag out for site days and the tent for weekends away.

RYOBI power station charging ONE+ batteries

8-bay charge run overnight

Left it charging four ONE+ packs from mains overnight and had a full fleet ready by the time the van rolled out at seven.

RYOBI power station battery bay filled

Four 12Ah packs, most of a working day

Ran the site radio, phone chargers and a couple of LED work lights all day on four larger packs. Swapped in fresh ones for the plunge saw when it was time.

RYOBI power station output panel

Three UK sockets is the sweet spot

Fridge, router, and a small heater on one unit during a blackout. Push button, three plugs in, the evening carried on like nothing happened.

Straight answers

Everything a buyer usually wants to check

Which RYOBI batteries does it take?
It runs on any RYOBI 18V ONE+ battery, from 4Ah upwards. You can slot up to eight packs at once. Larger-capacity packs give longer runtime; higher-Ah packs are strongly recommended if you plan to run appliances like a fridge or air conditioner for extended periods.
How long will it run a fridge or an AC?
Runtime depends on the appliance draw and the size of the ONE+ packs you load. A window air conditioner has been reported to run cleanly on it. For extended runtime, use higher-capacity packs and rotate them in as needed - the LCD shows remaining charge so you can plan.
Can it charge my ONE+ batteries too?
Yes. When it is not being used as a power source, plug it into mains and it becomes an 8-bay ONE+ charger. Great for topping off a full set of packs before an early start.
Is it safe to use indoors?
Yes. There is no fuel, no combustion, and no exhaust. That is the whole point compared to a petrol inverter generator - you can run it in the workshop, the kitchen, or the tent without worrying about fumes.
Does it do pass-through charging while powering AC?
The unit is designed to charge ONE+ packs when it is not being used as an AC power source. When you need AC output, load fresh packs; when the job is done, plug into mains and let it top the packs back up.
Is it noisy?
Buyers consistently describe it as amazingly quiet. Because the output is inverter-based rather than engine-based, there is no drone at all - just a small cooling fan under load.
